Welcome

Rising star, Lauren Decker, possesses a booming contralto with “amber low notes” that is in a league of its own. Praised by the Chicago Tribune for her “timbral splendor,” she became a Lyric Opera of Chicago favorite during her time as a member of the Patrick G and Shirley W Ryan Opera Center.

Decker brought dignified aplomb to her heroic postures as Antony, plumbing the depths of her music with a mahogany richness of sound to match her keenly expressive understanding of the character's psychological plight. Hers was an altogether winning performance.

“Decker’s Herodias-her presence formidable-her contralto both voluminous and lusciously timbred-effortlessly negotiated the thorniest moments of the character’s ungrateful music.”
